Bagels, Banners & Big Hearts: Showing Up for the Neighborhood, Brooklyn Style

At Myrtle Ave. Bagels, we don’t just serve bagels – we serve the block. Rooted in community and Brooklyn pride, we celebrate local teams, host neighborhood events, and keep our doors open to real connection. Bagels, banners, and big hearts – that’s the Myrtle way.

Around Here, Bagels Come with a Side of Community.

You can get a decent bagel almost anywhere in New York, but you can’t get this kind of community just anywhere.

At Myrtle Ave. Bagels, we’ve always believed that being a neighborhood bagel shop is about more than just rolling dough and pouring coffee. It’s about showing up. For the people. For the block. For the spirit of Brooklyn.

We like to say we serve bagels with a side of purpose, and that’s not just a clever line. It’s the foundation of everything we do.

Banners That Fly High, Just Like Our People

If you’ve ever walked past Myrtle Ave. Bagels during game season, you’ve seen it -  the hand-painted banners cheering on our local school teams, the flyers celebrating community events, the window full of birthday shout-outs and neighborhood milestones.

We don’t just sponsor local teams - we’re their biggest fans. We show up at the games. We wear jerseys. We know who scored the winning goal and who’s recovering from a sprain. And we’re always ready with a free cookie for the team MVP.

A Place for Locals, Built by Locals

Frankie and Prince didn’t set out to build a brand. They set out to build a place – one that felt like an extension of the block. That’s why Myrtle Ave. Bagels doesn’t just reflect the neighborhood – it’s part of its DNA.

We host pop-ups with Brooklyn artists. We offer a wall for community flyers and fundraisers. And we keep our ears open – because the best ideas for how to serve the community usually come from the community itself.

Our pigeon mascot Clinton? He’s not just cute (and unusually clean). He’s a reminder that in Brooklyn, the most ordinary things – like a street pigeon or a bagel shop – can take on a life of their own when they’re rooted in heart and humor.

Big Hearts. Real People. Brooklyn Energy.

This city moves fast — but Myrtle Ave. Bagels is where you can slow down for a second. Say good morning. Check in on your neighbor. Remember what it feels like to belong to something small and beautiful in a big city.

So yeah, we make bagels. But we also hang banners, host school fundraisers, and save the best seat in the shop for whoever needs it most that day.

It’s not a marketing strategy. It’s just who we are.

Bagels. Banners. Big Hearts. That’s the Myrtle Way.
